FAQ

We recommend testing your leak detection system at least once a year, although some applications may require more frequent testing. System testing should include the following points:

  1. With the system powered up, ensure no alarms are present on the system.

  2. If the liquid detection rope is installed on the floor, test the response time. Place a small puddle of water on the rope, covering a two inch area along the length of the rope. The system should alarm within reasonable time. This time may vary depending on the system used and the alarm time frame set within the system. If the system fails to alarm properly, contact us.

  3. If the liquid detection rope is mounted to piping, test the response time in a different manner. Place a rag soaked with water on the rope, covering a two to four inch area along the length of the rope. The system should alarm within a reasonable time. This time may vary depending on the system type. If the system fails to alarm properly, check your network

  4. Verify all alarms are received by the system. You can verify this via a change in status on the web page, email, LEDs, alarm beacon, siren, SNMP traps, voice phone calls (via Automatic Voice Dialer System), SMS messages (via external GSM or 3G modem) or any other notification system you have set up.

If you have two or more sensors reading different humidity values, the most likely cause is that the temperature values are different for each sensor.

When air gets warmer, more water can be “held” in the air, and when air get colder, less water can be “held.” This relationship is known as relative humidity. Relative humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air at a specific temperature to the maximum amount that the air could hold at that temperature, and is expressed as a percentage.

Below is a Psychometric Chart showing the relationship between temperature and humidity. Notice how the humidity value changes when the temperature value changes.

Issue: Receive false alerts from the integrated humidity sensor every 8 hours to 2 weeks. The alarm email is followed by returned to normal email.

Cause: The Sample Period and Alert Delay settings are set too short in the sensor configuration.

Solution: Set the Sample period to 10 seconds and the Alert Delay to 30 seconds for the humidity sensor.

The combination Temperature/Humidity sensor is 7 feet (2 m) in length and includes an RJ45 coupler to extend the sensor up to 500 feet (152 m) using CATx cable (minimum 24AWG) from the E-MICRO. The cables are sold separately.

When an IPDU-S4/8 loses power, internal memory (including Log Data) is lost.

The IPDU-S4/8 Data Log can be set to preserve itself via automatic messaging under Log > Log Settings > Data Log Settings. To send log entries, enable Syslog, SNMP, and/or E-mail Remote Logging and select which Groups will receive the preserved data logs. Data log entries will be sent out automatically when a new reading has been added to the log. Configure how often a new reading is added for each individual sensor under Sensors > Edit > Data Logging by selecting Add to data log and editing the Logging Period frequency.

Both Event and Data Logs can be preserved with the use of a USB Flash Drive. To Enable the flash drive, go to Log > Log Settings > Log To USB Flash Settings and select Enable Log to Flash drive. Logs will be automatically recorded onto the drive. The number of logs recorded will depend on the capacity of the flash drive installed. Make sure to disable Log to Flash drive by de-selecting before removing the drive or the data recorded to the drive may be lost. If power is lost to the unit while the Log to Flash drive is still enabled, the risk for data loss applies.

When reviewing a Digital Input status, the following values may be listed: INTEGER {notconnected(0), normal(1), prealert(2), alert(3), acknowledged(4), dismissed(5), disconnected(6), reserved(10)}

The precise meanings for the values are:

0‐ Not connected: No sensor has been connected to the referenced input.

1‐ Normal: Sensor is connected and operating within the parameter defined by “normal status” for that sensor.

2‐ Prealert: Sensor is connected and has entered alert status but has not been in alert status longer than the value defined by the “alert delay” for that sensor. Once that delay time has been satisfied, if still in alert status an alert will be sent by the ENVIROMUX.

3‐ Alert: Sensor is connected and has been in alert status longer than the time specified in the “alert delay” field.

4‐ Acknowledged: User has acknowledged the alert that has been reported by the ENVIROMUX for the sensor. The ENVIROMUX will not report another alert until the status for the sensor has returned to normal and then returns to alert status.

5‐ Dismissed: User has dismissed the alert reported by the ENVIROMUX for the sensor. The ENVIROMUX will report another alert if the sensor status does not return to normal when the time period configured in the “notify again after” field elapses.

6‐ Disconnected: Sensor was previously connected to the ENVIROMUX but has since lost its physical connection with the ENVIROMUX.

10‐ Reserved: This field is not in use and is held for future reporting purposes.

Yes. The E-2D software does support using an Office 365 Exchange Server to send alert messages. First, set up your Office 365 Exchange Server email. To send alerts to a user with an Office 365 Email, enter the email address under Administration -> Users -> Configure User -> Contact Settings -> E-mail Address.  To send alerts from an Office 365 Account, enter the Account address under Administration -> Enterprise -> Enterprise Settings -> E-mail.

Next, go to Network -> SMTP Settings and enter the SMTP Server as “smtp.office365.com”. Then, select Use STARTTLS and Use Authentication. Enter the Port number as 587. Enter the Office 365 account email address as the username, and the Office 365 account password as the password. The password is case sensitive.
